The definition of the word "dance" is to move your body in a way that goes with the rhythm and style of the music that is being played; to move and guide (someone) as music plays/ dance with someone; to perform [Miriam Webster Dictionary]. But, to so many people, dance is more than just this textbook definition. Dance is celebrating cultures through art. And most dancers would say that dance is about expressing themselves and their emotions without inhibitions. Martha Graham put it best when she said , "dance is the hidden language of the soul."

Throughout my webpages I will be using some terminology that might be confusing to non-dancers and people who don't know much about dance. Here are some explanations of some key words and dance terminology:
· Technique: having proper body alignment, good posture, pointed toes (unless the choreography requires otherwise), straightened legs, turned out feet( not bowlegged or pigeon toed)
· Turns: Spinning, basically
· Aerials: types of tricks/flips that require a person to lift their entire body off the ground (I’ll go into further detail of Styles of Dance page)
